110th Anniversary of KIM Whanki's Birth
Whanki Archive 1963-69 김환기의 뉴욕 기록들

After departing for São Paulo as a Korean commissioner on October 3, 1963, Kim Whanki settled in New York and, until the birth of the ‘All-over Dot Painting,’ continued to construct his artistic world as a foreigner in the artistic epicenter of the world, New York. He led a rigorous life, leaving behind numerous records of his time in New York through his diary. In an effort to enhance objectivity, various materials from domestic and international newspapers and other media were compiled.

Through this exhibition, we aim to take another step closer to the traces of Kim Whanki’s life and art during his time in New York.
